Gatsby establishes an image of Jesus Christ
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is highly the most taught book by teachers and is also America’s best literary novels. There are several strong images that makes the reader believe that J. Gatsby was indeed the son of god referring to the bible, During the novel The Great Gatsby there is a religious connection with J. Gatsby, starting off with Nick Carraway the narrator; describing Gatsby. “’ll tell you God’s truth”. I am the son of some wealthy people in the Middle West – all dead now. The death of Gatsby resembled the death of Jesus, because at the final scene of the novel, Gatsby struggles to carry his bed near the pool and die; yet Jesus was forced to carry his cross to the top of the hill and die there. “Gatsby shouldered the mattress and started for the pool. Once he stopped and shifted it a little, and the chauffeur asked him if he needed help but Gatsby shook his head.”(Fitzgerald 161) Additional to this topic, Simon comes to help Jesus but refuses. The chauffeur offers Gatsby his help. But both Gatsby and Jesus refuse and continue to struggle pulling. Jesus died around the time 3:30 on the hill of Calvary. Gatsby also died around that time, because Wilson was on his way to Gatsby’s house which was around three o’ clock and the butler usually receives messages from Chicago at four o’ clock, but by that time Gatsby was already …show more content…

Also when he throws all those parties it makes him look like he owns everybody because he doesn’t invite anybody but they all show up, so this makes him think that he is the underdog. Others say that T.J. Eckleburgh is the Christ like figure, because he is the eyes that watches the Valley of Ashes and all the people that living in it. Also that the Valley of Ashes looks like the old days just like the time period that Christ lived in. But I disagree with this statement because as we may all know Jesus Christ was a human and not a sigh in the middle of the poorest part of New York
