Fahrenheit 451 Journal Entry #2 If I were Guy at this point I would be extremely paranoid because having a book is one of the greatest crimes in their society and you can be punished by death. He also has been seen carrying a book so I would be trying to hide the books and instead of quitting work I would have kept going to work because it makes him look very suspicious by suddenly quitting your job after hinting that you have a book. Another thing I would have done is not tell Mildred that you have books because she isn’t very trustworthy and therefore she would tell the fire department. I really like Beatty as a character because he is contradictory to himself, he is the leader on the war against books yet he is the only person that has …show more content…

In the book I think he was reading a book and he was vividly imagining what was happening in the book, At this section of the book it also said that he was yelling at the other people on the train which makes no sense because he would have been arrested for doing that yet no one seemed to react to him. During the book a dog walks up to Guy’s house but Mildred shoos away the dog, It doesn’t really make that much sense however I think it might be foreshadowing something about the mechanical hound at the Firehall. This segment of the book reminds me of when a stray dog once came to my house and sat on our patio for a few hours during the middle of summer but we didn’t shoo the dog away from our house. The dog instead seemed to have vanished when my family and I ate dinner. Guy is kind of similar to me because once he started reading he couldn’t stop and finished an entire book in a very short amount of time, when i read I often get hooked and finish the book within a few hours. Another similarity between Guy and I is that we can not deal with guilt, in the book Guy has to burn a woman to death because she won’t leave the building he was forced to set on fire, the next few days Guy feels sick and becomes very emotionally troubled even though it wasn’t his fault for her death. The last time i felt guilty I also felt physically sick for awhile and was emotionally distraught. This segment of the book was very similar to the book V is for Vendetta by David Lloyd were in both citizens rights and most don’t fight for them back except for a small group of revolutionists which both protagonist are involved
