1. Three planned legacies for Brisbane, and by extension, the state of Queensland
The long-term legacy for Brisbane of hosting 2024 Olympic Games will be: urban, sporting and economic legacy. As part of Brisbane development planning which focuses on calling Brisbane home, putting Brisbane to work, (Brisbane City Council, 2006), these three legacies will not only accelerate the implementation process but also maximize the benefit of the current development strategy.

Who will be responsible for ensuring the legacies have come to fruition and are maintained
A wide range of stakeholders, including the government bodies, private sectors and local community, have responsibility for achieving Olympic legacies.
To be specifically, state government will bear the primary responsibility not only for managing or regulating the establishment and delivery of legacy strategy, but also for providing investment and enacting relevant policies. Brisbane City Council who has established the document of CityShape 2026 will cooperate with Queensland government to ensure that city development planning will be consistent with the blueprint of Olympic legacy. In addition, government will be responsible for legacies maintenance.
As the partnership with private sectors is an important component for hosting Olympic Games, international and national, commercial and non-commercial companies and organizations will be involved in legacies development as well.
