Life Lessons on and off the Court
One life lesson is beat on it and it will break. This lesson has happened before when riding a three-wheeler in a hay field. When wheeling and whipping donuts it hit a pothole causing it to roll and break. It was not cheap to fix and the parts were hard to find. Matt de la Pena wrote How to Transform an Everyday, Ordinary Hoop Court into a Place of Higher Learning and You at the Podium. Life lessons are important because they can be advice from others who have tried it and either did or didn’t succeed with it. Most life lessons can be learned on and off of the court, but most are learned off of the court.
Life lessons learned on the court are important because a person can use them in life when they need them. First, some life lessons can be learned on the court. For example when the narrator says “I wanna play” three times (de la Pena 8). The life lesson that the narrator stated is if you want something you have to speak up. Next, another life lesson is learned on the court. For example when the narrator says “that first day you won’t get into a single game” (de la Pena 5). Overall I think the lessons off of the court are important because summed up by what the narrator’s father said is that if you don’t chase your dreams they're not going to come to you, you have to work for them. Another reason I think life lessons off of the court are important is that if you want to be the best you have to strive to be like the best. The importance of life lessons is that you can use them in life because it’s advice from yourself or others that have already done it or are going to attempt
