2. Loyalty is a negative trait in Othello. Many characters in Othello were very loyal and it ended in their demise. For example Othello’s loyalty to Iago ended in his death. Othello was so loyal to Iago because of Iago's ability to convince Othello that he was being truthful and that there was in fact, some unfaithfulness happening in his marriage. Another example of loyalty ending in a character's demise was Roderigo. Roderigo, like Othello, is loyal to Iago because of Iago’s trickery. This loyalty ended in Roderigo being broke and eventually dead. Another example is Desdemona. Desdemona was so loyal to Othello she allowed him to murder her. In conclusion, loyalty led Othello, Roderigo, and Desdemona all to their deaths.
