Everyone gets a little nervous when they're being pulled over by a cop even if they didnt do anything wrong. Most fear a minor ticket but not everyone fears there life being taken not everyone has to go through the steps in there head to do when a cop pulls them over having to remember each key detail not to even miss one single step because there life depends on it sadly this is a world a lot of different cultures have to live in to this day, Its concerning how quick a life can be taken by a single cop just because of a “what if scenario’ they have going in there head in a second many cops have taken away daughters sons fathers mothers a friends a sibling etc. In The Hate You Give the idea of multicultural perspective gets brought up and shown …show more content…
This was an example of a racial crime because he immediately treated Malik differently when the traffic stop occurred. The cop officer (Makentosh) without hesitation started accusing Malik and Starr of doing drugs and having drugs in the car, and accused Starr of almost just being a prostitute that Malik just picked up to have fun with. Starr had dearly wished she had recorded when Malik got pulled over but didn't get the chance to She couldn't save him by doing that but she was able to save her dad and that was ok and she then said on page 311 “what's the point of having a voice if your gonna be silent in in the moments you shouldn't be” This finally convinced Starr to go on the tv interview and speak out about all this and spread the word about Malik and how warped this whole situation was and how the cops where handling it and everyone was asking the wrong questions. After Starr went on the record everyone finally started hearing her and people started listening and fighting back by making peaceful protests even though some turned not peaceful. At the end of the day the word was out and the other side of the story was finally told and that had never really got to happen it it was usually only the cops' side people listened to but this was something that shocked everyone and brought people
