Another person who has a dream that longs for it to come true is Myrtle. To explain, Myrtle decided to marry George Wilson and she later realized that it was a mistake. She quickly learns that she wants to be with Tom but is not certain that is what she wants. Myrtle then thinks that Tom and Jordan have a relationship going on and becomes jealous. All of this going on makes Myrtle realize that she only wants Tom. Myrtle creates a drama scene to make sure that Tom is what she wants. She is not completely sure that she wants Tom, but to make sure, she makes a drama scene by being jealous. For example, when Tom, Daisy, and Gatsby went into town, she saw them driving the car and she watched Tom from a distance as she saw the car coming up. Myrtle …show more content…

Her dream was to end her marriage with Wilson and then go back to Tom. With her running in front of the car, it shows that she is trying to make her dream come true and is doing everything that she can think of to make sure that it does. This all relates to Gatsby and Daisy in a way that they both want their dreams to come true and to end up with the love of their life. As Myrtle ran out to stop Tom, she was hit by Daisy and Gatsby. She thought that Tom was driving Gatsby’s car because she saw him driving it earlier in the day. By her running out to talk to Tom, it gave her another chance to make sure her idea of her dream came true. Nick narrates and says, “Myrtle Wilson’s body, wrapped in a blanket, and then in another blanket, as though she suffered from a chill in the hot night, lay on a work table and Tom was bending over it, motionless” (138). Myrtle’s dream did not come true as she was killed and Tom was left speechless. He did not know how to act as he saw Myrtle’s body laying there, thinking that everything they knew together was completely gone.
