There are two groups in almost everything and us as human beings tend to categorize everything whether they are people or subjects. The dichotomy of the classroom meticulously separates the teacher from the student. The teacher sits in the front of the classroom away from the other desks and away from the students. The position of the teacher’s desk is a cognitive example of authority and power. The students, on the other hand, sit together as one body scattered around like many of the other objects in the classroom setting.

The three different research methods are naturalistic observations, surveys, and case studies. A naturalistic observation is when someone is observing people or animals in a natural environment or set. A naturalistic observation would be good to use when you observing people in a a cafeteria. For example under appropriate conditions, you can observe the amount of people who naturally order healthy food verses unhealthy food. Naturalistic observation are good only if you take the time to observe people in their natural environments.
Students’ sometimes make a lot of noise while the teacher is providing the instructions; some get distracted by talking to their peers. Although the teacher used verbal cues, such as “stop talking”, “I will take you to the office”, “keep quiet” to control behavior, they seemed to be ineffective to the fact that after few some time students leaned into the same misbehavior. Moreover, labeling students by geometric shapes may have a negative impact on students’ interaction and participation in the class discussion. For instance, students from the circle group rarely participate in class discussion or are asked to express their opinion. Faltis and Arias (2007) noted that labeling students make them feel intellectually incapable and make it difficult for them to be viewed as important in the class.
I. Observation My observation of nonverbal communication and behavior related to gender took place at a local café, Ad Astra. This café doubles a used-and-new book store and a coffee shop; the menu consists of coffee and tea beverages, sandwiches, and sweets. Ad Astra does not serve alcohol. The furniture consists of odd tables, chairs, and sofas; tables, depending on their size and shape, sit two to five people.
For the second ten minute observation, I observed was during the teacher during circle time. They do a 20 minute circle every morning and the children love it. For this observation, I would give the teacher a rating of 5 for responding to social cues. During the circle time, she would ask questions and let the children talk. She would pick on kids with their hands up and allow them to speak and she would also pick on the kids that clearly wanted to talk, where either trying to talk without raising their hands.
The first thing that I notice was all the labels all around the classroom, there was labels on the clocks, near the bathrooms, play areas etc. On this day of observation there was a lot of pretend play, dressing up and role playing. At the drawling table, there was children sitting at the table with a magazine cutting out pictures. During both observation days there was no behavior problems. It was a well obtained class, and I am excited to continue participating in this classroom. One student during the classes library visit came up and gave me a big hug. He would not let go for the longest time. This class has a special place in my heart and I only been in there two times.
