"Nothing good ever comes from violence."
The focus of my paper is to explore the idea that we don't need to resort to violence in order to stop violence. I have always believed in sayings, and the majority of them align with this quote from the ancient Greek poet Hesiod: "Do not wrong nor yet be wrung; for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." This quote serves as an important reminder that violence will only breed more violence, and thus we should remember that "nothing good ever comes of violence." Furthermore, as my wise grandmother always said, "What goes around comes around," "There will always be consequences to your actions," and "Two wrongs don't make a right." If someone perpetrates an act of violence, then they should expect to be faced with either some form of retribution or an undesirable outcome. These forms of retribution can come to someone mentally or physically and can range from anxiety, fear, and regret. We all have to face the consequences of our own actions, and sometimes we even suffer for our mistakes. One example of a character facing the consequences of their own actions is Lady Macbeth in the story of Macbeth. After pushing Macbeth to commit the murder of King Duncan, Lady Macbeth begins to suffer from severe guilt and remorse, which eventually leads her to her untimely death. Not only will this be harmful to our own well-being, but it will also add fuel to an already burning fire, making things even worse. As in the story of Macbeth, by killing Duncan, the King of Scotland, Macbeth not only caused irreversible harm to his own conscience and well-being, but he also sparked an endless cycle of violence and death throughout Scotland. Macbeth's action is consistent with the idea that nothing good can ever come from violence by showing that what began as a single act of violence spiraled into an uncontrollable series of events.
