One in 40 adults in the United States suffer from a psychological disorder called Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. This disorder causes you to have unwanted repetitive thoughts and feelings that exemplify anxiety. This interpretation is important because it shows that people today aren’t all disorganized and freelancing around but that they can all be neat and nice and orderly in line. Like the book The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald it is a novel about the exceedingly rich in the 1920’s. Jay Gatsby suffers from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder which is commonly known today as OCD. Fitzgerald shows this by how Gatsby has an obsession with Daisy. Which can be seen on page 206 of the book with the image of the setting of where the book took place. But anyways he wanted to be closer to Daisy or right across the bay from her. And even him being across the bay from Daisy all he had to do was look through some binos or binoculars and he could see the Buchanan’s backyard plain as day. Or he didn’t even need binoculars to see across the bay he could just look with his naked eyes and see their backyard. Also every time Daisy would have stepped out onto her and Tom’s backyard she would be able to see Gatsby’s place and be reminded of what she could have had if she only had waited for Gatsby 5 years ago but nope, she decided to marry Tom Buchanan for his money instead. Another excellent point to go with the way Gatsby has an obsession with Daisy is all the parties he threw for her. Gatsby threw all the party’s he could because he thought that Daisy loved parties and that she would eventually attended one of his parties he threw. He constantly calls Nick “Old Sport”. Probably due to him because maybe he was called that from his father or from someone he was close to that would constantly say it towards other people. Or that he just couldn’t remember their name because he would see a lot of people in one day. He could have called you that though, like if you were someone special to him in his life he would call you old sport, because maybe that saying meant alot to him. Or it was just a way of him messing with you because you were friends with him and he wanted to joke around with you and the nickname just stuck to him. So he would constantly call you old sport for basically the rest of your life which would suck or it would be nice too because you would mean something to him. Maybe he would call you that just because he thought it was funny to him so he did it. Which could be a likely possibility for Gatsby. Due to his weird and funky personality he brings to the table. Also maybe his tremendous mind is going due to the OCD and he just over thinks with his stuff or thoughts. Well with that in mind, that brings up another excellent point on the way he over thinks stuff. Or just the way he is going to say something to someone or also the way he worries too much about the way Daisy would think about him or the stuff he did.
