An Epic Hero’s Journey

Imagine being able to go through the experiences of Odysseus, the main character of The Odyssey. Odysseus goes on many different adventures that include lots of challenges such as fighting many different creatures, visiting different islands, and building structures. Considering all of what Odysseus accomplished of being a vast traveler, having supernatural abilities and qualities, and going through battles with supernatural forces, he is indeed an epic hero who is worthy of admiration.
Odysseus displays his cleverness as he goes on all his journeys which shows how he is an epic hero. To begin with, he comes up with a plan to construct a wooden horse to trick the Trojans he ran into, which ended up leading to the fall of the city of Troy. Additionally, he was able to blind the Cyclops Polyphemus, which ended up freeing him and his crew. These clever actions truly do show how he is an epic hero who is admired for his intelligence. Some may say that Odysseus is not a true epic hero. They may argue that blinding enemies or using disguises are not the true actions of an epic hero. He constantly faced life-threatening challenges, but in the end, he still managed to get out of them successfully. This is shown by the time when he encountered the sirens, he bravely resists by having his crew tie him to the pole of the ship. Additionally, during his battle against the suitors, as he returns to Ithaca, Odysseus bravely handles the unloyal men.
