In the Memoir Night by Elie Wiesel, The germans used propaganda to scapegoat the Jews. The Nazis were very anti semitic. Or Prejudice against the jews during the Holocaust. In the beginning of the book the germans asked the local synagogue what people attended. At first the Jews had no Anguish.
The novel The Book Thief by Markus Zusak has othering present by demonstrating how one of the main characters, Max, is Jewish during Nazi Germany and has dealt with othering and prejudice throughout the story. The author states "'Will you climb in here so that we can defeat this enemy(jews) together (Germany)? (254)''' The example demonstrates how Germany used "othering" against the Jewish community, and how it affected them. Furthermore, they had the mindset of "it's either them, or us," and Germany decided it would not be them to go down.
Throughout history, humans have done many questionable things toward one another for one reason or another ranging from wealth to necessity. Perspective is extremely important when it comes to determining if something is evil or not as its effects on others can vary as can the drawbacks and/or benefits to the initiator.
