When asked to explain how something has a dual nature, immediately passion comes to mind. Passion has a dual nature because when someone has a passion and uses that for good it can be motivation, but on the other hand someone can use passion negatively by turning that into obsession. Most of the time when people are describing themselves they tend to use passion as a characteristic. Typically, when someone uses this to describe themselves it is viewed as a great characteristic to have, maybe that shouldn’t always be assumed. Being passionate can be a great characteristic. It can lead someone to have motivation and truly care about what they do. It can lead someone to go the extra mile and even love what they do. In a scenario that is general to many people, specifically passionate high school students, this can be a good thing because passion leads to better grades, better quality school work, and essentially a better future. Jekyll and Mr.Hyde, it is discovered that in the end Jekyll and Hyde are the exact same person. Jekyll revealed that he liked being in Hyde’s body because he was able to get away with murder. He reveals that by saying “Instantly the spirit of hell awoke in me and raged. With a transport of glee, I mauled the unresisting body, tasting delight from every blow; and it was not till weariness had begun to succeed, that I was suddenly, in the top fit of my delirium, struck through the heart by a cold thrill of terror.” (Stevenson, 78) Jekyll is the perfect example of a Doctor who was considered to be well-respected, and passionate about his career. That is fantastic. Who doesn't want a passionate doctor. This passion eventually turns into obsession when he uses chemicals to turn himself into Hyde, which could be totally harmless but he decides to take his obsession to another level. He uses that to his advantage and murders
