People's Perseverance During the Holocaust War often leads to the murders of thousands but people still find hope and strength to carry on. During the Holocaust, an estimated eleven million people were murdered because of Adolf Hitler. During 1933-1945 Adolf Hitler became the Dictator of Germany and wanted to create a perfect German race called the Aryan race. Hilter forced every German Jew, gypsy, and other non-Germannn race into ghettos which is a lesser living areas, and later on to concentration working camps. Right when they got there they were split up and were either sent to death or sent to work. When they worked in the camps they were starved, endured abuse, and even killed themselves because of how horrible it was. Elie found his strength because he had his father by his side during their time in the camps. He was able to stay with his father but he got split up with his mother and sisters. The only reason Elie kept going was because of his relationship with his father. When they got to their first camp in Birkenau, Eliezer states, “ We did now know, as yet, which was the better side” …/… “Still, I was happy, I was near my father” (Wiesel 32). Elie didn’t care if they were going to the crematorium or if they were going to go to work, all he cared about was if he was near his father, he was the only thing he had left. If Elie’s father was sent to the crematorium he would have ran after him even knowing that they were going to die. He kept going because he cared for his father and didn’t want him to
