Perseverance is when a person showcases a spirit of determination in difficult circumstances. In the novel ‘The Young Warriors’ the hunters had nothing but determination coursing through their blood. Some cases of perseverance from the book will be shown and discussed in this essay. The first act of perseverance was shown during the young warrior competitions, although one boy was unfaithful during one of the challenges. The boys also showed perseverance when climbing the rocky cliff. At the end of the narrative, the warriors and the other fighters from Mountain Top demonstrated perseverance when they won the war and rescued Charlie from the Redcoats. The first challenge in the young warrior competition was trivia. The boys had to answer questions thrown to them by the chief of the village. Johnny, a friend of the protagonist and a competitor in the games, was nervous. He was afraid that he might embarrass his father and himself in front of the crowd by getting the question incorrect, but he didn’t and answered with a boisterous voice. Charlie was also nervous during the trivia and jumbled his words with a timid voice, but still passed that part of the test. …show more content…

The warriors and the rest of Mountain Top knew that although they had strong fighters, they couldn’t fight alone. So, the chief sent Tommy and Johnny off to find help from a neighboring maroon village. The route they were on caused them to stumble upon a cliff they had to climb. All was well until Tommy grabbed onto a loose rock and he was about the fall. But though Tommy looked death in the eyes, he was perseverant. And because of that spirit that never gives up, he managed to find a firm rock and kept climbing until he reached somewhere
