Pros And Cons Of Political Dishonesty

A current issue in any state, more specifically Texas is political dishonesty. Dishonesty within our politicians and policies. These occurrences within our state government affects our local government as well; almost like a domino effect because whatever the state does , locally we follow. Political dishonesty has ultimately been an issue for a long period of time mainly caused by those who have a personal benefit. Weather it be for an election, a policy to be passed, or just criminals in office, whatever the case our politicians know how to sweep things under a rug and get away with crimes legally for self-interest. Political dishonesty is an important issue to resolve, without a solution to stop politicians only doing the things they do for themselves, is selfish and in some ways it defeats the purpose of an democracy. Lets take for example our elections. You might think gerrymandering as a whole is illegal, not only is it wrong and cheating to ensure a certain candidate a win, but disadvantaging for others in the distract and goes …show more content…

There shouldn't be any cheating in a democracy and using a platform to cause a disadvantage to others is wrong. I believe competition is good when it comes to voting and elections, so being able to ensure a win for a candidate should be illegal. Not only is it wrong but going back to being a democracy, a democracy should not be unfair, or else why would it be called a democracy. No politician should legally be able to get away with blatant crimes or even have the opportunity to do so. As in redistricting the mapp for a certain parties benefit, or pay a personal problem with taxpayers money, or make up unnecessary regulations for self benefit to get rid of a action that doesn't affect anyone but the person committing the action.
