Racism
Have you ever noticed how people with different appearances get treated differently just because of the way they look? I surely have and and i see evidence of this everyday whether i notice it or not. Racism is still present in the united states but people don't really notice it because they are used to it and it is normal to them.One of the most famous examples of the racism that I am talking about is the case of trayvon Martin, he was called a “suspicious “ person just because he was a black person wearing a hoodie walking at night. There is so much racism in the united states a lot of it goes unnoticed. An example of this is “It’s harder for an Asian American to be accepted into a college than a Hispanic or African American.”(https://elaineqle.wordpress.com/2015/03/19/racism-gone-unnoticed/). I wasn't even aware of that before i read the article that states that. I am also pretty sure most american wouldn't know that either.Another example is ”The famous professional basketball player Jeremy Lin was featured in an ESPN article titled, “Chink in the Armor.” In his movie Linsanity, scenes of the audience at games shouting racist slurs at Lin were shown.”("Racism Gone Unnoticed."). An example of that is “Many times, I have heard people casually comment on how Asians were bad drivers, or how they all had small eyes. People constantly laugh and make fun of “fob accents.” People always assume that all Asians look the same, and that because they share the same ethnicity, they get along. Asian discrimination is just as bad as African discrimination. What I don’t understand is why it’s normalized, or why it’s gone unnoticed.”("Racism Gone Unnoticed." ). I think a reason some types of racism goes unnoticed is that people see stereotypes and assume its a fact when the stereotype only actually applies to a few
