Chapter 3: Reflective Practice After researching into the approaches taken by street photographers, the idea of creating a body of work using an invasive approach which matched both Martin Parr and Bruce Gilden’s style of approaching people and using WassinkLundgren technique of standing in one place and waiting for the scene to unfold in front of the camera. When planning my outcome the decisions of how to photograph whether on a tripod or further away from the scene with passers by walking into shot and in a way creating their own scene. Even though I am not placing an object for people to interact with my choice of location of the market allowed my subjects to interact in an unposed way within the environment for example by positioning myself with my camera next to a fruit stall meant the subject would then unintentionally have reacted by walking into the shot picking up the fruit or chatting with the stall owners which is how I wanted to provoke a reaction. My aim was to use a similar approach to Parr by getting close to the subjects and also have very little interaction with the people similar to Wassink Lundgren utilising a mixture of the two styles as my …show more content…
Figures 7-10 shows the work I have created to explore different styles of street photography. In a similar way that Bruce Gilden selected his subjects I waited for a character to inspire me before I took the photograph. The use of contrast between the fore ground and back ground is used to propel the subjects to the front of the image and surround them with the vivid colours of the market. Within the photographs I have attempted to capture the atmosphere and vibrancy of market life.
