In the famous movie The Notebook written by Nicholas Sparks, a young love flourishes into a great love. The two main characters Allie and Noah meet at a young age and fall into a summer love, once summer is over Allie’s parents make her return back to school leaving Noah. Breaking up caused each individual a long period of heartbreak and agony. Years later Allie reaches back out to Noah and visits him. This return resulted in the couple rekindling their relationship and growing fonder and more in love than ever before. This movie became a hit and wonderstruck teenage girls. Although, girls do not know that the reality of today's relationships is different from The Notebooks portrayed relationship. Back then certain things meant so much more than they do now. For example, holding hands and saying, “I love you” were big milestones in relationships. Yet in today's society that is overlooked like it’s nothing. I enjoy the thought of how the women stayed home with the kids and the man of the household provided. Today, things are so expensive that if a wife does get to be a stay-at-home mom she is considered lucky. So many interruptions are now part of our world it is hard just to have a conversation with someone. Social media causes anxiety, stress, and jealousy in a relationship. Texting can cause a miscommunication between two people and misinterpretations of the dialect in the message. In the 1940s not having these new means of communications allowed the relationship between two people to focus solely on them and not have any outside interruptions.
