Resilience is the process and outcome of successfully adapting to difficult or challenging life experiences, especially through mental, emotional, and behavioral flexibility and adjustment to external and internal demands. I think resilience for me would be fostering wellness and embracing health thoughts. This is because without fostering your wellness you can get sick and not be at the best you can be. You also want to have good thoughts because if you have negative thoughts you would be sad and not know how to deal with the situation. This is because since I was born my mom has had diabetes. Throughout my whole life my mom was sick. She had seizures from her blood sugar dropping really low. I remember being 7 having to call my dad because my mom was having one and i didnt know what to do. Later on in life my mom had kidney failure but she was still resilient in pushing forward and trying to make the best of what she could do with me and my sister. We were always back and forth from devils lake where we lived to grand forks or fargo. We mainly were in Fargo at the hospital. When I was 9 or 10 my mom had a stroke causing her to forget everything walking, talking , even breathing and all the old activities we used to do. As she laid there in the hospital bed the doctor said she wasn't gonna make it. We waited day after day praying she would make it, undergoing surgeries after surgeries, different tests and needles being poked into her. My family thought it was time to let her go. Then one day something changed. She was able to breathe on her own. It was slow but she was making progress. She kept fighting. After a long month of her being in the icu she was able to move her right hand and open her eyes. Later on that month they decided to move her to the rehab center in south washington in grand forks where she continued to fight everyday to make progress.
