Introduction
Decisions are answers to crisis that affect an individual or an organization (Jones, 2008). Top management levels in every organization aims at hiring staff members who can make sound decisions. Decision making involves identifying a crisis, seeking factual alternatives and selecting and implementing one of the alternatives (Sommerville, 2007). Through interaction with staff, customers, and guests, it is arguably right to claim that hospitality executive play a proactive role in managing business property and making conversant decision. This essay is aimed at giving a response of chapter 4 to 5 about the concepts needed by hospitality executives to make informed decisions.
Waste management
Hospitality professionals should equip themselves with the knowledge of waste management that is, careful handling of gaseous, solid and liquid waste and their proper disposal thus creating a healthy environment. Besides being important, electricity poses a threat of danger to a firm. Cost considerations in the installation of emergency power systems and wiring system should be put in place. Electrical wires all around the hospitality firm should be made of copper which allows flow of electricity with minimum friction. Moreover, the wires should be plastic insulated to prevent short-circuiting. The emergency power systems should be fitted to cover for power outage periods. In times of high energy costs, lighting conservation measures should be put in place. Employees should be educated on handling electricity to avoid injuries and added cost of premiums paid to insurance
