Should I commit self harm to find love? William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” shows through the relationship of Helena and Demetrius, a successful way of finding a partner is through self-neglect and self endangerment. To give more context,Helena slept with Demetrius, Demetrius moved on but Helena fell in love with him. Demetrius continued to ignore Helena. This caused Helena to fall in love with Demetrius More and more, but the more Demetrius neglected Helena the more she fell in love with him.
Shakesphere’s writing conveys how disregarding oneself and hurting oneself will bring love and relationships.

We see this when in Act 2, Demetrius has learned of Lysander and Hermia’s plan to escape into the woods and he decided to pursue them to get his love back, Helena who was desperate to be with Demetrius followed him into the woods, then they had a confrontation.
Helena tells Demetrius that,
