Doesn’t everyone love Christmas time? It is the time where everyone is merry, people are giving presents, and everyone is showing their appreciation for eachother, Well, back then, there was a man named Scrooge who didnt like Christmas at all. Scrooge was a Rich man, who didin’t care about the poor or Christmas. There are 3 themes in Charles Dickens’ “A christmas carol”. Those themes include Childhood Innocence, Scrooges Transformation, and Social Justice. It is clear that Scrooge comes across all of these in his adenture with the 3 spirits, in just one night!

For example,in the begginning of the book it shows Scrooge being very mean to his nephew. “Because you fell in love!” growled Scrooge as if that were the only thing in the world more ridiculous than a merry christmas. “Good Afternoon”“nay uncle, but you never came to see me before that happened. Why give it a reason for not coming now?” “Good Afternoon!”, said Scrooge….(Dickens 4) This quote includes mood and repetition. Repitiition is in this quote because Scrooge repeats himself by saying “Good afternoon” several times.There is a mood set with this quote, that scrooge is angry, and will not see eye, to eye, with his nephew. His nephew is trying to make amends with his uncle, and invite him to dinner, but scrooge is angry and shouts good afternoon , and refuses to say merry Christmas back to his nephew.This is describing Scrooge's Transformation because he is very grumpy and rude to his nephew. He is mocking Christmas and doesn't care about Christmas at all.ANother example of Scrooges Transformation is near the midle of the book when he was with the ghost of Christmas Present. "What is the matter?" asked the Ghost. "Nothing particular," said Scrooge. "Something, I think?" the Ghost insisted. "No," said Scrooge, "No. I should like to be able to say a word or two to my clerk just now! That's all."In that quote the literary elemt was mood. Repitition is in this quote because Fan keeps on saying the word “home” making the scene more happy and joyful. This quote also expresses connotation because when she says “dear brother” it carrys a sense of happiness and loving.This fits the theme of childhood innocence because Fan is very tiny and cute. Another example of Childhood Innocence is when Tiny Tim was with his family. `”And how did little Tim behave. asked Mrs Cratchit, when she had rallied Bob on his credulity, and Bob had hugged his daughter to his heart's content.`As good as gold,' said Bob,' and better.
