Secretive Stealth In Harper Lee’s novel To Kill a Mockingbird, Jean Louise, Charles Harris, and Mr. Arthur Radley possess the character quality of stealth. From children to adults, this virtue seldom ceases. When anything interesting happens, each of these characters act in different ways, but they still show this trait in some way. Stealth can serve to one’s benefit whatever the scenario maybe. Many people define this characteristic as deceitful or clever, but these characters use this trait not to be dishonest. Stealth comes in a variety of different ways. Jean Louise demonstrates stealth multiple times in this book. She exercises this trait not only for good but also for doing wrong. The first time the reader detects this quality in Jean happens when she spies on her brother, Jem, when he attends school. She uses her sneakiness to hear news she should not hear. “Later, when I was supposed to be in bed,…and heard Atticus and Uncle Jack in the living room:” (115).
