Turning points can challenge your life at times. It can make your life better or worse. This idea comes up in Hatchet, a fiction by Gary Paulsen, Guts, a non-fiction by Gary Paulsen, and Island of the Blue dolphins, a fiction by scott o’dell. These stories all have turning points that affect them in the same way, doing so, they change their lives and things around them.
A turning point is a point in someone’s life where they change physically or mentally. People respond to turning points that can change history. Three examples of a turning point are an autobiography, “I Never Had It Made” by Jackie Robinson, an article, The father of Chinese aviation, by Rebecca Maskel, and a memoir, Warriors don’t cry, by Melba Beals. Jackie Robinson, Melba Beals, an Feng Ru all faced challenges that impacted them and their communities. Jackie Robinson was the first black baseball player.
Scrooge can see multiple poor people stealing from the dead rich person so they could live happily with money. All the ghosts had shown Scrooge of his distraught past, the present, and his leading future that could affect him if he could
”Scrooge changes from these traits through his experience with the ghost of the past,present,and future. When the ghost of Christmas past visits Scrooge,it shows that on pg.31 and pg.32,where talking about his past and how he should change the way he acts and saying
Later that night scrooge meets the ghost of Christmas present unlike the other spirit this one is happy Scrooge looked at the big tall man and he took Scrooge to Bob Cratchit’s house and he showed Scrooge how even though they are poor they are happy people this event makes scrooges perspective on hardships better. The last spirit Future appears this spirit looks like the grim reaper he takes Scrooge to when he dies people are stealing from him and nobody cares about his death this terrifies Scrooge he begs the spirit that he will not be mean anymore and the spirit lets him
Then after he was down seeing his gravestone the ghost took him to see what his family was saying and doing about scrooge's funeral. Nobody wanted to go to his funeral, not his family, or other people that knew him in the past. But then Scrooge started to realize that the causes of him being greedy ment no one would want to go to his funeral. The effect,that no one wants to go to his funeral. Lastly Scrooge has said sorry to his family and they forgave him for what he has done.
When the Ghost of Christmas Past visits him, he is worried and very confused. Ebenezer Scrooge thinks that the entire thing is a joke. “There’s more gravy than of grave about you, whatever you are.” His actions illustrate how simple his life was, by catching him completely off guard, and showing that all of his joy is gone. He becomes terribly frightened by reliving his past.
The Ghost of Christmas Past reminded Scrooge why he is who he is, and how he can really change himself for the better. The Ghost Of Christmas Present, taught Scrooge, What he had missed in his time in not believing in Christmas love and spirit. And lastly The Ghost
When the Spirit shows Scrooge when he was a boy in grade school, Scrooge is quickly reminded of how he was always left alone over the Christmas season, neglected by his friends. "The school is not quite deserted," said the Ghost. " A solitary child, neglected by his friends, is left there still." Scrooge said he knew it.
After Marley warns him not to end up like himself, and informs him that he will be visited by three ghosts, the first ghost arrives in Scrooge’s home. This is the the Ghost of Christmas Past. The spirit is dressed in a bright white tunic and is holding branch of luscious green holly. The ghost shows him scenes from when he was younger. These scenes make a massive impact on Scrooge.
When Scrooge sees the Ghost, he is scared by its frightening appearance, but he knows that the Spirit’s lessons are important. He says, “ ‘But as I know your purpose is to do me good, and as I hope to live to be another man from what I was, I am prepared to bear you company, and do it with a thankful heart’ ” (Dickens 2). In this point of the story, Scrooge wants to change and is ready learn how to change his ways. He realizes that the Ghosts’ lessons are vital if he wants to change.
A new hobby, a distraction from the real world, or a nation wide cultural change and a pathway to new trends, what was TV in the 1980’s? Fantasies and fairy tale galore, TV’s during this decade brought the public into a new world of self expression. People could watch the most perfect romance stories to be educated about the latest news straight from their own living rooms. It changed the lives of many citizens in the way it spread information to everyone home in America and influenced many people by the way it completely disregarded racial minorities.
In the play A Christmas Carol Mr scrooge is visited by jacob marley, his old but dead partner. He tells scrooge to get his act up or he will turn out to be like him. He marley told he would be visited by three ghost.(Dickens 8) When the clock strikes he is visited by the ghost of christmas past he shows scrooge his past from when he was a little boy to when he was an apprentice at a warehouse. Where he meet his first love.
Scrooge has started to really understand what he has done wrong in his life and how selfish and mean he really is . The ghost of Christmas Yet to Come shows Scrooge his future and how the people don’t care that Scrooge dies “If there is any person in the town, who feels emotion caused by this man’s death,” said Scrooge quite agonised, “show that person to me, Spirit, I beseech you” ( Dickens 11 ). Scrooge is seeing how people treat him when he is dead but Scrooge has no clue they are talking about him. Scrooge is showed the future but Scrooge thinks he has already changed completely because he has no idea that the person the men are talking about is him. Scrooge is changing fast but he has not seen the shadows that have not happened but will happen soon "You are about to show me shadows of the things that have not happened, but will happen in the time before us," Scrooge pursued.
The word 'Psychology' translates, "study of the soul" in Latin. The study of how we work, think, behave, and function has fascinated me since late childhood, and in recent times my desire to study criminal psychology/criminology has only grown. I started to learn that every individual faces their own unique problems, and nothing in life can be simple or 'normal'. But then what is normal? It really amazes me how, throughout the world, we each have unique and exceptional ideas of how to interact with one another and behave in society.
