There’s several we could talk about, but I feel Lucretia Coffin Mott is often looked over, by getting no appreciation. Melinda Plastas wrote an article called “Peace and Change” found on web.b.ebscohost.com, which depicts the life and contributions Mott created over the years. Plastas started off with, “Lucretia Coffin Mott is remembered today for her participation in the founding meeting of the U.S. women’s rights movement in 1848.” She wants to give us the feel of what type of contributions Mott gave to us
What was the historical significance of Betty Friedan to the evolution of women’s rights in America in the 1960s? Women have always fought hard for their equality. Since the very first convention held in Seneca Falls, New York in 1848, countless women have joined together to try and improve the standard of life for all women within the United States. In the later years of the 19th century, women gathered behind activists Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, with the hope of achieving voting rights of women under the Constitution. On August 26th, 1920, their goal was achieved with the ratification of the 19th Amendment.
Liberal feminism was focused on equal opportunities to women. They believed women and men are equal. They also believed that women have the same capability as men in economics and political fields which they should have the equal rights with the men. Here in the United States, the end of WWII was met with celebration as well as hope for the future (Sullivan, 2018). Initially, the postwar era was met with some uncertainty because of the threat of conflict with the Soviet Union. There was always the skirting of another war looming on the side lines with Russia and it was said to be terrifying. Americans were tired, and families were torn apart from the war that was fought so heroically for so many years.
Friedan's Effect on Women’s Rights According to Britannica, the definition of feminism is the belief in social, economic, and political equality of the sexes. Betty Friedan, psychologist and the author of the famous “The Feminine Mystique”, was a huge feminist and advocate for women’s rights. Her works and words were involved in the renaissance of feminist thinking during the mid-1900s. From her books to the organizations she was a member of, she influenced many to start believing that women were capable of more than just being a housewife.

There are three types of feminism: Socialist, reformist, and radical. Socialist is the oppression of women to inequalities that developed in connection with the class system of private property. ' Like racism, homophobia, and other forms of bigotry, sexism divides by working class and thereby allows the capitalists to make super-profits.' The reformist feminists believe that gender inequality can be eliminated through legislative or electoral reforms without the need to alter the capitalist system itself (Fem. 101). When a feminist targets the psychology or biology as the source of women's oppression, they're called a radical feminist.
Feminism includes to look for equal opportunities for women in education and employment. - Feminism movements fights for the rights of women for example the right to vote, to be able to do the work that men do, to earn equal pay as men, to receive the same education, to have equal rights in a marriage, etc. Feminists are also seen as a “right” that women have that will help them to stay safe from rape, sexual harassment, and domestic violence, etc. - In other words Feminism is seen as a group of women who have the same goals.

The core beliefs of a feminist are that women should be recognized and treated the same as a man, men and woman should have equal rights and opportunities, and women should be seen as both intellectual a socially equal as men. The first wave of feminism began in the mid 1800’s between the early 1900’s and this particular group were many of the women taking for granted and wanted the same opportunities that were given to men such as the right to vote.

Well, the definition of feminism is “the advocacy of women's rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes.” Now, notice that there is nothing in the definition saying woman want to be higher than men. A lot of people, men, woman, even me at a time had created this illusion in our brains that Feminism meant woman wanted to be higher in the ranks then men.
First, we should define feminism. Basically, feminism is a philosophy that advocates equal rights for women and men. The more feminists seek to overthrow any sign of male dominance in our society, to the point where they disapprove the biblical roles of husbands and wives, defending abortion, and so on. Modern feminism is a forged solution to the real issue of the inequality of women. Feminism assumes to itself the right to demand respect and equality in every aspect of life.
