He realizes the chances and risks he has to take instead of waiting. But he also discovers that revenge eventually leads to a line of revenge until there is nothing left but a story to tell. In the beginning, the first line is “who's there?” (1,1) but later in the play he answers “it's me, Hamlet”. Shakespeare uses this line which signifies him discovering his identity as he looks at the graves. “Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him Horatio.”(5,1) As he looks at his old friend and mentor he realizes how life is here and gone the next, slowly withering away as we take for granted what we have rather than living.
