1. Utilitarianism: I should have told the truth to my manager, I made a bad decision not to tell the manager the truth. Ethical Formalism: I wouldn’t gain anything from telling the truth; however I didn’t take reasonability and tell the truth. Ethically it was wrong for me not to say something to my manager. I showed not loyalty towards the company I work for. Ethics of Care/ Peace Making: I was mindful that I didn’t tell the truth. I decided to have mercy and tell my manager the truth about my friend eating and drinking while in the store. I made this decision because I wanted to have peach by make the situation right. Once the officer realized the suspect had a knife, the officer had the right to arrest the suspect. According to the chief police the police officer’s followed all company procedures. My opinion it shouldn’t take three police officer and they can’t detain one suspect with a knife. The company policy does tell the police officer what to do with someone with a knife. I believe the suspect had mental illness going on with her personality. The officer that answered the phone knew something was different with the suspect when she wouldn’t answer his questions. I believe the officer’s response was ethical. The officer used the utilitarianism act. The police officers focus was on the suspect having a knife. There was clearly a benefit to society which out weighted the cost of the suspect life. The police officers made sure the suspect couldn’t hurt anyone in society. I believe the police department and front line police officers should have set policies regarding use of force. I understand police officers are in situations when force is needed with a suspect. I believe the guide lines are needed because as we have read in the various article some police officers definition of use of force is shooting a suspect in the head because the police officer felt disrespected by the suspect.
