War is not just shooting guns and throwing grenades. War is a fight between people or upon themselves. War is a constant curse because in the end there will always be an injury. First, within the short story “The Sniper” by Liam O’Flaherty the author depicts a young man who is scared but is fighting for the freedom of his country as a sniper. “Then the sniper turned over the dead body and looked into his brother’s face.” (O’Flaherty 10) This example clearly represents how war is a curse. Because war forces to kill. He was forced to kill his family unknowingly. The young man’s sudden urge to see who he had shot only to find it was his brother fighting against him. He now dwells upon the fact of his actions. HIs 9-year-old daughter asked about his time serving and he is afraid to share and she shields her from the evils of war. Third, war changes lives, and never in a positive way. Another way to view war as a curse is by looking at the text from within “The Morally Injured” by Tyler Boudreay, where he writes, “...‘moral injury’ is meant to displace the more severe sense of guilt, and to give space for the kinds of wounds we inflict on ourselves that com inherently with the wounds we inflict upon others.” (Boudreay 3) This last example shows that war is mind controlling and makes one's life miserable. “...and to give space for the kinds of wounds we inflict on ourselves that come inherently with the wounds we inflict upon others.” (Boudreay 3) When in our hurting or killing of others bring upon loads of guilt that make each kill seem like a stab in the chest. War is most definitely a curse, and there is more than enough evidence to prove so. War is a curse in not only a physical way but a mental challenge that is not easy to overcome. War is life
