A cultural bias is when on culture believes they are better than the other culture. The book, Farewell to Manzanar, is based on a cultural bias against Japanese people. In Farewell to Manzanar, American see themselves as more superior and they fear everyone who is Japanese. Once the Japanese were freed from camp and returned to their daily lives it forever changes since many Americans had a deep hatred towards them.
If stereotypes are not active, I believe that an avenue of culture interaction is created that encourages both parties to effectively learn each other’s culture through language. Additionally, I believe that when stereotypes are active during spontaneous culture interaction, it hinders one ability to effectively unify meaning through language because there are assumptions that exist between either parties pertaining to what is expected of the other party. Last but not least, although stereotypes may exist, if an individual tend to be aware of stereotypes but does not necessarily believe them, an avenue to unifying meaning is created, in which culture interaction leads to effective culture
Ethnic stereotypes operate in the same ways for men and women. In the reading “ Being WEIRD: How Culture Shapes the Mind,” Ethan Watters mentions how culture shapes the way of thinking and perception. “The most interesting thing about cultures…they mold out most fundamental conscious and unconscious thinking and perception. ”(Watters 496). This shows how culture is not just about the materialistic things, but how it influence’s ones thinking and judgment in general.
Differences of culture offer many benefits. They offer different solutions, insights and perspectives. These benefits can further develop and improve many aspects of health and behavioral science to be inclusive and intersectional. Despite the difference of culture, everyone deserves dependable and appropriate healthcare, care which is respectful of personal and cultural beliefs. Although cultures may have prescribed stereotypes, these stereotypes are often not representative of the majority of people of a culture.

PREJUDICE I always thought prejudice always came in one form; appearance. But by reading and watching this semester, I’ve learned that it comes in the form of religious beliefs, wealth, and reputation, also. Over the course of the first semester in this English class, we learned about themes like prejudice, mercy, materialism, hatred, revenge, and courage by reading 3 books and spending a while learning about the Holocaust (watched 2 movies and read a Holocaust book of our choice, as well as presentations throughout). Parrillo’s essay “Causes of Prejudice,” helped me to understand how we are affected not just psychologically but in a sociological way as well, as John A. Camacho explains in his A Few Bad Apples opinion piece published in the Pacific Daily News. Both forms of prejudice are continued to be explained through Stud Turkel’s “C.P Ellis,” he gives us an understanding of psychological and sociological prejudice through C.P Ellis’own experiences. This furthers our understanding on how we can be affected by both psychological and sociological prejudices.
Have you ever wondered why some people act the way they act? It really all depends on the way they were raised, and what culture they were raised in. That’s what I have always wondered, how people act the way they act. While some may say that culture is the only way to learn about others. I believe one’s culture occasionally informs the way one views the world because our experiences are what truly shapes our views, which is illustrated in personal experiences and literature.
Cultural factors are sets of beliefs, values, and guidelines for individuals’ behaviors. These beliefs are often shared and discussed by a certain group of people. These groups of people may be influenced by culture, ethnicity, race, religion, economics, and an individual’s routines. In other words, it is safe to say that not all cultural groups will share the same views on specific beliefs, values, and/or guidelines. For instance, there are many cultural beliefs held in America, which may have affected Jeanette’s development into an independent and intelligent woman.
Ethnocentrism can be viewed negatively by others; however, it is a positive image of one’s own culture. Moreover, stereotyping involves a negative image about another culture. Within every culture there is always a negative viewpoint that follows.
Definition of the word worldview can vary greatly, ranges from “we are all what we think” which has been inspired by Buddha, to a more current view being that it is a set of assumptions and beliefs that have an all-powerful effect , both on cognition and behavior. In brief, worldview influences and impacts the way a person view their surroundings, their lives as well as other people in their environment (Sue & Sue, 2003). Culture is only a single word that besets a plethora of categories which can influence a person’s thoughts, beliefs, actions and morals. Enclosing a myriad of life experiences, family values and lessons into a single word is quite a challenge. I am a product of Italian American culture.
Cultural bias highlights differences among viewpoints, persons and groups that preference one culture over all. We can describe cultural bias as discriminative because it introduces one group's accepted behavior as valued and distinguishable from another lesser valued societal group. Cultural bias was found to be the major determinant of where certain people live, what their opportunities in education and health care. Bias is a tendency to favor of one person, group, a thing or point of view over another, often, in an unfair way. Bias can be a personal opinion or a more public opinion, such as a news story, that only presents facts that support one point of view.
(Macionis 310). The culture theory claims that some prejudice is found in everyone. Some people are excessively prejudice, but everyone has a bit of prejudice.
In our society today and even in the past, there has always been a tendency to associate certain qualities and behaviors with a particular race or ethnicity. In addition, many times these associations
