Odysseus, in The Odyssey by Homer, and I both demonstrate self-restraint. One time Odysseus shows self-discipline is when he’s in the cyclops’ cave and stabbed his eye. The cyclops “squatted in the breach with arms thrown wide for any silly man or beast that bolted” (907). Odysseus restrains himself from running the first time he sees a way out. Instead he stays back and plans for a better way out.
In our country today we have a Judicial Court System in place, and a democratic government. The Judicial Court System is an adversarial system of justice; it interprets and enforces the federal laws of our country. In The Odyssey, Homer displayed that justice was ruthless and that the main gods assisted in carrying out the consequences of good and evil to those who deserved it. The Odyssey demonstrated that justice was cruel and that the main gods, such as Zeus, helped carry out the punishments to the bad and the rewards to the good by telling how Aegisthus was killed, what the Phaeacians and suitors consequences were, and Odysseus’ final destination.
Odysseus uses his powers as king quite unfairly. The Odyssey, written by Homer around 3,000 years ago is an epic poem about how Odysseus restores justice to Ithaca. As Odysseus returns home, he brings with him a style of fear, revenge, and brutal justice. Ithaca's fear of Odysseus’s style of justice is restored in two ways. The first reason is how fear is restored to Ithaca.
The Odyssey, a Greek epic involves the story of Odysseus's daring adventures during his return to Ithaca. He fell into numerous difficulties and has to keep himself alive. In the Odyssey Homer changes the Crew in order to reveal his message that strong minded leaders can help the weak minded to his ancient Greek audience and the reader. Strong minded leader help the weak minded develops from when they got tied up by Odysseus, to when the Cyclops ate one of their men in the Cyclops then to where Helios made them sacrificed one of their cattle for him, even though the crew does get distracted sometimes during the journey.

It illustrates how the challenges and obstacles one may face can help someone become a better leader. The Odyssey highlights one man, Odysseus, a man filled with excessive pride, experiencing the wrath of the god Poseidon. He expects to arrive at his home, Ithaca, safely to reunite with his wife, Penelope, but unfortunately faces many temptations and setbacks. Due to the challenges he faces, it prevents him from arriving home as early as he thought he would.
The Odyssey, Homer, takes the reader on a man's journey back home after being faced with many struggles for 15 years. Throughout the epic poem, The Odyssey, several examples of epic concepts are shown, such as; epithets, epic similes, and archetypes. Epithets are most commonly seen throughout this epic poem. This is evident because there are many examples of epithets in each book of The Odyssey. For example when the gods and goddesses were discussing Odysseus' fate they used a epithet.
Everybody will face challenges that feel like they are impossible overcome, or are hopeless. But with hard work, self improvement, and a mindset to never give u we can overcome any challenge thrown our way. Odysseus, through his journey finds himslef facing challenges that would seem daunting to even a god watching him from the hevans. But despite this he finds a way to persevere throught the loss the sacrifice and the ever building stakes of his actions. Odysseus gains insight by facing many challenges and going against the odds even when they seem completely insurmountable.
The Role of Greed Throughout The Odyssey There are many important themes in the odyssey such as wisdom, loyalty, perseverance, respect towards higher powers (the gods), and greed. Greed is the most common theme in the Odyssey. Throughout the Odyssey, Homer illustrates how greed and selfishness can result in severe punishment. In this essay I will be discussing how and why greed is the most important theme in this Poem and in general literature. After escaping Cyclops, Odysseus and his men land on a rocky island that is home to Aeolus, the god of the wind.

Imagine being apart from your family for over ten years, fighting for your life in a war, and in the many battles and problems you will face on your way home from war. Would you be able to fight a cyclops, pass a dangerous whirlpool and have to face the fact that your crew betrayed you? In the novel The Odyssey written by Homer, Odysseus must do all of these things and more. He has been away from his wife, son and many other family members for over ten years now, fighting for his life on his journey home after fighting in the Trojan war.
