Who’s believed to have killed Duncan?
Duncan was the former king of Scotland in the short story The Tragedy of Macbeth by William Shakespeare. He was seen to be one of the best rules throughout history. Duncan was a fair king and always wanted the best for his people and nation. Unfortunately, Duncan had put so much trust in his friends and family members who also wanted the rein to be king or queen one day. There were four suspects Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, the three witches, and himself who could be framed for his murder. Although there are four suspects Lady Macbeth herself seemed to be the most involved in the murder. Lady Macbeth had asked the witches for evil spirits to possess her to encourage the killing, she made an intricate plan for the murder, and she had covered up most of everything that happened the night of the killing. Lady Macbeth seems to be most responsible for the muder.

After the hallucination that Macbeth had Duncan was found dead. Lady Macbeth was there to wash her husband's hands clean and rushed him into his room so they were both unseen. Lady Macbeth may have convinced and given Macbeth more reason to kill his cousin earlier in the act. Lady Macbeth could have made Macbeth insane which makes her the murderer as she was the mind behind the plan. She constantly told him how proud of him she was for getting over his fear of supposedly killing his cousin. As well later in the act, she reassures him by telling him that no one will find out and to stay quiet as the work he had done could not be fixed. She tells him, “A little water clears us of this deed:”(Shakespeare 26). This shows that they can't fix it so they should not give anyone any suspicions to look into them.
