The horror in their eyes did not defeat their strength inside of them. In the novel Night written by Elie Wiesel, there was an outstanding amount of survival instincts that he used to prevail over the other Jews to survive while in the concentration camps. These charactaristics were shown through wisdom, bravery, and perseverance. First of all, wisdom was one of the most important characteristics, it is what helped the Jews help each other to survive. Elie Wisele and his father were standing together in line at Birkenau after being separated from his mother and sisters. Shorty after the thoughts of revolt ended, it was time for the medical checks by prisoner doctors to get knowledge of health from each Jew. "Let the world learn about the existence of Auschwitz. Let everybody find out about it while they still have a chance to escape”(31). This quote is important because it is the prisoners in Birkenau that had just arrived realizing and speaking out to each other about how cruel and deathly these camps are. They were realizing that they should have taken the opportunity to pack their belonging and leave when they first were warned and want everyone else who has yet been taken know about these deadly circumstances. In addition, all of the Jewish men were recently transported into the Buna concentration camp and had been there for a couple of days. One Sunday during larte morning, sirens started going off which signaled and air raid. Everyone was then instructed by officer and choice to go into their barracks. Since the air raids required everyone to take shelter, the watch tower guards left their post and the electric barbwire being turned off. This cause the success rte of being able to escape be fairly large, but the risk was if any SS officer found someone out of the barracks they were to be shot. No one and nothing had been seen in the allies diuring the air raid besides two hot steaming cauldrons of soup. One of the Jewish men decided to take the risk and go for the cauldrons of soup being followed by hundreds of more men. All of the men in the barracks respected their attempt, but everyone knew that they were setting themselves up for a suicide mission. Right before he took a sip he had been shot. They then recieved news about the Buna factory being bombed after the barracks began to shake. Elie had fear when he realized his father was still working at the factory at that moment. Everyone had been shockingly gald this was happening. ”We were not afraid. And yet, if a bomb had fallen on the blocks, it would have claimed hundreds of inmates' lives. But we no longer feared death, in any event not this particular death. Every bomb that hit filled us with joy, gave us renewed confidence”(60) This quote is powerful because
