Witty Odysseus
Wit by definition means “Mentally sharp; keen intelligence”. Throughout The Odyssey by Homer, Odysseus represents many ways that he has earned the title of “Mighty Odysseus” by showing Wit for himself and his men. He has shown that he is mentally strong enough, has an overpowering mind, and is able to think about ways that are not obvious while being in so many emotional states. He leads himself along with his men, through the adventures on the trail to the Island of Ithaca. For his mental strength he has earned the right to call himself and for others to call him “Mighty Odysseus”.

Odysseus and his few men on his boat were the only ones who had escaped from the tragic Laestrygonians, the Laetrygonians were huge giants that would eat anything that had come in their way that was any man kind. Book VI on page 3, paragraph 1-2 states ``My men struggled desperately to haul in the anchors and get their ships under way, but they were too late. The entire fleet was smashed apart by the bombardment, and the survivors were speared like fish and cooked alive on spits by the gruel giants. Because my own ship was moored outside the harbor, we were able to slip away unnoticed and unharmed.” Odysseus, he was the only one who had put his boat in a harbor. He had to have known that if something were to happen, he and his men would be able to escape easily without getting stuck, So being forced to leave his other men behind, he had left and escaped for him and his men's only will. Because if he was gonna lose anybody he would want it to be a small number of people then all of his remaining men. Doubt he had a choice; he knew that if he even stayed he and his men would not come out
