The Lord leads Israel in conquering the land and judging its wicked inhabitants, and then he distributes the land among the twelve tribes. The book ends with Joshua’s pleas for Israel to remain faithful as God’s people. Judges opens with Israel’s disobedience. They refuse to wage war with unbelief and to purge idolatry from the land. The books of Samuel, named after him, tell of a time of great change within the Israelite nation.
God makes a covenant with Moses called the Mosaic covenant, which is the covenant between God and the nation of Israel. The covenant was made at Mount Sinai, where God makes Moses the leader of Israel. This covenant is conditional because its organized in the form of blessings and curses. God states “I will set my Dwelling among you, and will not disdain you.
Moses returns to Egypt and fails to convince Ramses to release them.” (Tiano pg 27) God gave Egypt ten different plagues, but the last one finally convinced Ramses. Confident that the plagues convinced him, Moses and his brother, Aaron, took the Israelites and escaped. When the Israelites left, Ramses changed his mind and sent out and chased them to the Red Sea. God helped Moses part the Red Sea and the Israelites and Ramses’ army walked below the body of water.
In the letter exchange by Patricia Leary and the poem from “Formula for Attica Repeats” by Mshaka, they both share a similar theme of police brutality. Leary is defending the Black Lives Matter movement in the letter, she is clarifying that it is a movement that the African-American started to campaign against violence and racism towards black people. The BLM protests in different cities against the killings of African-Americans by police officers, police brutality, racial profiling and the unfair criminal justice system. The main focus is on protests that have been created to put a spotlight on the issue of police brutality. In the same way, as the prison industrial system has failed to support people of color.
Later, Moses prayed to the Lord, interceding for the sin of his people, and asking for their forgiveness; God forgave them, then Moses received the departure order to go to the Promised Land. Right before the departure, Moses prayed again to the Lord asking for guidance during the second part of the exodus, and Moses wanted to see God. The Lord gave the instruction to Moses to prepare two tablets again and ordered him to go up the Sinai Mountain. Moses did as the Lord said to him. The verses under study are the part where Moses came down from Sinai with the tablets of the covenant for the second and last time.

This story causes the civil war in the chapters following it. The violence and treachery described in this chapter ought to be put in a thriller novel by Stephen King and not a sacred religious text. The story starts by saying that there was no king in Israel at the time. This tells the reader that Israel is already in the part of the cycle with violence and a disregard of God. The concubine goes back to her father's house and after four months her husband goes there to get her back.
(Exodus 3-4) Dealing with his pride, he went from privilege to poverty, to trailing about the dessert with grumbling people who took a long time to learn the lessons God was trying to teach them: humility, submission, and to be humble in the presence of the Lord. One of Moses’s major trials seems to have been the difference between what he thought his assets were, and what God thought his assets were. When he finally obeyed and fulfilled God’s will for him, Moses then had to bring law to the Israelites, and ultimately all Christians, while doing his best to keep them focused on the many blessings God had granted them. Moses brought the new covenant to the people.
Mosaic law was documented approximately 300 years after Hammurabi's code. The Hammurabi's Code is one of first written law record in earth history. With this in mind, in this essay, I will contrast the similar and the different cultures of the Babylonian and Hebrew civilizations through analyzing Hammurabi's Code and Mosaic law found in Leviticus 17-22 and Exodus 20-23. Base on my studies, I believe that the Babylonian laws are primarily covering the matters of administrative, civil, criminal issues, and economic to maintain orders. Whereas, the Hebraic laws were base on the worship of one true God throughout their life.
STRUCTURE AND UNITY Leviticus is often considered a work of several authors over a long period of time, mostly during the exile of Israel in Babylonia. There are several proposal dates for these incest laws. On the one hand, according to John E. Hartley, the suggestion varies between scholars. He points a few proposals: “Elliger locates the old kernel in a nomadic era.” Then he adds, “Kilian and Reventlow assign the laws to the wilderness period.”
Isaiah 53 When studying the bible, you can find that there is not place in all the Old Testament is it so plainly and fully prophesied. That Christ would have to suffer, and then to enter into his glory, as in this chapter. But to this day few discern, or will acknowledge, that Divine power which goes with the word. The authentic and most important report of salvation for sinners, through the Son of God, is disregarded. The low condition he submitted to, and his appearance in the world, were not agreeable to the ideas the Jews had formed of the Messiah.

It is no secret that feedback in Composition courses improves people’s confidence while they gain unbiased opinions about their writing. There have been many opportunities to earn feedback from different resources such as the writing center, other people in their course, and a professor. Sometimes people may agree or disagree with people’s feelings toward their writing, but how a person uses feedback allows them to improve as a writer. In this essay, students will discuss their feelings toward the critiques they have received from the writing center, peers, and their professor to guide them toward the final revisions of their research paper which will improve their writing capabilities
Both Old Testament writers and even Jesus in the New Testament refer to the Torah as the Law of Moses. However, Gary Schnittjer does an excellent job broadening the understanding and purpose of the Torah by going back to the original meaning of the word. He says, “Tôrâ is better understood as ‘instruction’ or ‘teaching’” (Schnittjer 526). This opens up the purpose of the Pentateuch to be more than a list of rules and regulations, as I once believed it to be, and to become God’s instructions to teach humanity (and me) how to have relationship with God.
The Book of Numbers – in Hebrew, Bəmidbar, meaning “in the wilderness [of Sinai]” – describes the the Israelites’ long journey in the desert to take possession of God’s promised land. The Jewish Study Bible divides Numbers into three major units based on “geographical criteria” and “ideological motifs”. The first unit spans from Numbers 1.1 to 10.10 and details the Israelites’ encampment at Mount Sinai and their preparation for the long journey. The second unit picks up this narrative and describes the generation‐long march in the desert from Sinai to Moab. The final unit, starting with Numbers 22.2, narrates the encampment on the plains of Moab before entering the promised land of Canaan.
This covenant is found in Exodus 19-24 and Deuteronomy. These books are the structure for the Judicial law which the Israelites follow even to this day. In Exodus 20 is where we find the Ten Commandment. These are the basic few out of the 613 laws that God requires the Israelites to follow. I have a hard enough time remembering the Ten Commandments yet alone the 613 laws required to be holy before God.
