Before Elie went to the camp he was completely different than the person who walked into the camp. Also during the actions of chapter 3, as a reader I found that Elie had already changed as he made his way into the camp. For example, relating to the quote I have chosen, in that specific part of the chapter and when Elie's father kindly asked to know where the bathroom was and he was hit by a Gypsy. As described in this part of the book Elie felt himself almost immediately
Elies experiences transformed his relationship with God and his father. Elie's relationship with God changed greatly while he was in the concentration camps. Early in the story, he was devoted to God's word. He studied religion in the day and go to temple night. He wanted to be a rabbi and study the Kabbalah as a 13 year old .
The relationship of elie and his father changed when his father started to get weak and elie needed to take care of him. For example, when the father of Elie got weak, Elie needed to bring him food because the father couldn't stand by himself. Consequently, a random person came and told eli to stop giving him his rations of food because he was going to die anyways. WHO WHAT WHY Elie Wiesel presents the immense changes he experienced throughout the Holocaust through the expression created in the opening. Wiesel, a young Jewish boy, reflects on the physical and emotional effects of the holocaust by stating how “[He] was no longer the little boy that [he] was. [He] was a body.” At the opening of his memoir, Wiesel reflects on how "All that was left of [him] was a shape that resembled [him]. [His] soul had been invaded - and devoured - by a black flame."
Elie Wiesel was also an amazing writer he wrote about his experiences and the changes he had faced during the Holocaust. Elie Wiesel was fortunate enough to live and tell his stories and share it with the world. He was born on September 30, 1928, in Sighet Romania. Elie and his family were put into ghettos in 1940 but on May 1944, at the age of 15, they were placed into concentration camps. The people who were in these camps were Jews mainly, Homosexuals, Jehovah's Witnesses, Gypsies and much more.
He changed as a person because he was used to people dying that it didn’t even bother him anymore. But in the beginning Elie when he first arrived at the camp he wasn 't used to seeing people dying. On Elies’s first day at Auschwitz he saw “a truck drew close and unloaded its hold: small children. Babies!... thrown into flames” (32). Elie couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
Due to the horrific circumstances, Elie changed both physically and emotionally. He started to not care about anyone or anything, he thought his father was a burden, an he became very skinny and he thought that his body was holding him back. At the beginning of the story, Night, Elie cared about his father and everyone he knew. He was always making sure that him and his father were doing the right thing.
The Holocaust was one of the most tragic events in history. It just so happened to be the cause of six million deaths. While there are countless beings who experienced such trauma, it is impossible to hear everyone's side of the story. However, one man, in particular, allowed himself to speak of the tragedies. Elie Wiesel, born September 30, 1928 in Sighet, Transylvania, was changed drastically as a person during the events of the Holocaust in Germany. Before the Holocaust began he was just like any other boy living in Romania. How ever his childhood did not last nearly long enough. There are multiple ways a person could be changed during this horrific experience and he was affected by most of them. He changed emotionally, spiritually, and physically.
Yet by the time him and Elie had started to become accustomed to living in the concentration camps 2 main things started to change, one being his father’s motivation to be a leader and role model for others which started to fade after a few weeks in the camps. Elie was stolen from what made him, appearance wise that is. At this time he was with his family, but not long after he would be separated from his sisters and mother. Not his father, but his father. Everyday these people were forced into labor, later, most likely murdered by gas, guns, rope, and worse of all, fire. These people were pushed beyond their limits.
All the prisoners were fighting for their lives every second of every day. It caused them to have to change themselves completely to survive what the Nazis put them through. Explain the extreme change that occurred in Elie’s life. He went from a little kid in a small town who wanted to study the Kabbalah, to having to fight every day to survive and live. The first night of Elie’s new life in the concentration camp was one of his hardest.
Elie went through extreme adversity within the camps of Auschwitz yet still managed to persevere. The experiences Elie went through in camp Auschwitz changed him as an individual spiritually; a boy who was once devoted to God ceased to believe in him. Elie also lost his sense of self identity, as his personality completely changes. During his internment at Auschwitz and Buchenwald Elie completely loses his innocence. As a result of the adversity Elie faces throughout his time at the Auschwitz camp, his identity is tarnished and eventually reformed.
He lost his innocence and began to feel hatred toward god for letting innocent people die. Elie changed and he became rebellious. He began to wish for things he regretted later and he lost all hope. He became an entirely different person. Elie went through life changing events and he was traumatized.
