Geography essay ‘With reference to examples, assess the degree to which the level of economic development of a country affects planning and management in urban area’s’ In this essay I will be exploring how the economic development of a country affects the planning and management of urban areas, using 4 different expels and case studies to explore, countries at different levels of economic development and how this affects their planning and management of urban areas, and how they differ from one another. I will explore the London 2012 Olympic site, Sao Paulo, Dharavi and Curitiba all places around the world that are all at different stages of economic development and it has shown with their management of planning of the urban area. For example the London 2012 Olympics boosted the London economy by £9.9billion, and the current developments 4 years after are a s a result of the huge economic boost, allowing the planning of management of new projects in the area to drastically improve the area further. Firstly I will be exploring the London 2012 Olympic site, this site went through a huge rejuvenation project, in the years before the games, changing it from an old brownfield site, in a very ruin down area of London (Stratford), to the amazing area and community which have now been created due to the Olympics 4 years ago. Even in the 4 years post Olympics have brought money into the area with many events taken place on the Olympic site
