Roles:
A role of a coach is that they are a motivator. A motivator is someone who encourages you to do or achieve something. For example learn how to do a new skill over a time period. The roles of good coach are that the players or team will look up to the coach. They will respect the coach and think of them as a role model. If the coach is all the things a good coach should be then the team/individual will want to be like them and achieve what they have achieved. As the coach is a good coach they should be a friend to the player giving the, good advice and helping them when they need it, if is in the sport or a topic outside the sport. This will affect a player’s performance because if they have a coach that they don’t like then they won’t go to training with a positive attitude and this can affect the way they play. The affect this has on performance on the individual is that they can perform well because they have the equipment to play and have a good amount of time to play so they can learn new skills and develop as a player in a team.
Coaches are responsible for the health and safety of the athletes in their charge. Coaches should have access to first aid facilities and have the means by which to contact emergency services. This affects a player’s performance because if a player has fallen over and has hurt their ankle, the coach should give them an ice pack so their ankle can heal better, so they can get back to playing quicker.
