(Elliott). The second claim is that abstinence leads to teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted
A Women’s Right To Make Her Own Healthcare Decisions I am a strong pro-choice Democrat who believes that women must have the freedom to make their own healthcare decisions. The landmark decision of Roe v. Wade ensured that women have the right to decide what happens to their bodies free from governmental legislation. The right for a woman to an abortion is a personal decision that should only be made by the woman through consultation with her friends, family, and medical professionals. Sadly, numerous legislators disagree with this view and continually attempt to limit a woman’s right to choose.
In this week’s reading, I connected the Ms. Article “Abstinence Isn’t Enough,” and the Feminist Theory Reader, “Defining Black Feminist Thought” in which I observed different perspectives of different feminist injustice both arguing that such social issues cannot be define in a macro-perspective. Therefore, interpreting my knowledge on the different issues presented in both these articles. In “Abstinence Isn’t Enough,” they introduced the issue that in 2011 President Bush funded 1.3 billion dollars for sex education only. Then the article states that President Obama funded 178 million dollars towards teen pregnancy prevention programs. Now, while both actions seem reasonable, according to the article, President Obama’s action is more
Two travelers, namely Marco Polo and Ibn Battuta, travelled to China independently and while there noted their experiences by writing travel accounts. Although they both went to China, their individual experiences influenced the way they wrote. These individual experiences were primarily driven by differing cultural backgrounds, different time periods and religious beliefs. Marco Polo was born around 1254 in Venice, Europe and was raised Catholic . Marco Polo was privileged and was able to travel to China at the age of 17 with his father and uncle .
My question is why do some women choses not to use birth control pills knowing that it is the best methods to prevent them from undesired
The Escalation of Force: Specifically Less-Lethal Alternatives “What gets us killed isn’t the ability to apply lethal force; it’s the reluctance to use it, and the reason we’re reluctant is that we can’t make informed decisions. The rules of engagement that allow us to use lethal force mean that we have to tolerate a lot more abuse and risk. With a non-lethal-weapon option, you don’t have to accept the conditions offered” (Wilkinson, 2008) Law enforcement officers are one of the most visible arms of government, as they are only members of society legally authorized to take life or inflict serious injury to preserve order and enforce the law and therefore, they are entrusted with substantial authority and discretion (Miller, 2010).
An issue that pertains to this is abortion. Do people not know that an abortion is murder. You are killing an innocent tiny human being who hasn’t even got a chance to live. There are many other options besides abortion. One option is abstinence; if you cannot handle the possible outcomes of sex maybe you shouldn’t have it.
Abortion in Australia is a subject of state law rather than national law. The grounds on which abortion is permitted in Australia vary from state to state. In every state, abortion is legal to protect the life and health of the woman, though each state has a different definition. In Australia it is 1 in every 4 baby’s don’t survive pregnancy, with over 80,000 women wanting abortion every year.
I find that just preaching abstinence, as the only way to go is not effective sexual education. It’s key that we teach about birth control and Sexually Transmitted Infections as our society is becoming more sexually active so it’s important that they learn how to have safe sex. Planned Parenthood encourages its patients to make informed decisions and provide an environment where they feel comfortable to ask any questions. If people don’t practice safe sex, they are at risk of getting a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STIs).
The age group that is most likely to become pregnant from not using any type of contraceptive method are those ages fifteen to eighteen. About eighteen percent of sexually active teens in this age group are not using any type of birth control (“Contraceptive Use in the United States.”). The biggest contributors to this are their lack of knowledge and the difficulty that comes with obtaining many forms of birth
Unintended pregnancies happen around the world daily. According to Guttmacher Institute, “In 2011, the most recent year for which national-level data are available, 45% of all pregnancies in the United States were unintended, including three out of four pregnancies to women younger than 20.” Birth control was approved for contraceptive use in 1960 and after two years, 1.2 American women were on the pill. Birth control should be available without a prescription due to the positive feedback. It should only be available to customers aged higher than 15, and must have a monthly check up with their OBGYN.
Throughout the whole course of this abstinence experience, I failed and succeeded many times. Although I failed most times, what I learned from this abstinence experience is how to control myself. Also, I learned that I can overcome most of my addictions if I try hard enough and put my mind to it. I feel that this abstinence experiment has showed me that I can truly control myself, even though it may be hard. What influenced me the most while trying out this abstinence experiment was that I had a goal set at the end of this whole journey.
What is exactly birth control? Birth-control is the act of preventing pregnancy. Matters including medications procedures devices and behaviors. Another word for birth control is contraception. There are some frequent debates should teenage girls be allowed to get birth control without permission from the parents?
The current sex epidemic is not about unwanted pregnancies and diseases (which both are huge problems, just not what I am talking about with this) but how willing people are to have sex with other people. This can have astounding consequences on people’s psyche, especially young women. The constant cycle of breakups, sex and emotional detachment can lead to depression, anxiety and a multitude of other things. It is also important to note that women who have more sexual partners also have a higher divorce rate. Divorces can lead to unhappy people, emotionally scarred children which then puts them at the same risk.
Why people should stop smoking In many ways, people relieve stress by smoking each day. Most people do not know or do not seem to care about how much damage it does to their body and environment. Despite these definite facts that accompany smoking, cigarettes and cigars have practically a staple in most people 's living conditions and lifestyle. Whether people are planning on smoking, or already longtime smokers, you should definitely not smoke, as it does a lot more damage in return than fix your mental problems.
