Natural selection, the process in which individuals that have certain inherited
For Natural Selection to occur there must be some level of variation among the population that is heritable.
Natural selection is organisms with traits that are best suited to their environment and are more likely to survive and reproduce. As stated in chapter 5 of Unraveling the Origins Controversy, “Natural selection is deemed the primary mechanism of non-random changes in the number of particular traits in a population” (David A. DeWitt, 2007). Some of the factors that limit natural selection are traits that are not heritable. Some examples are learned behaviors; diet induced traits, and behaviorally induced traits.
You got your green eyes from your mother, and your freckles from your father but where did you get your thrill-seeking personality and talent for singing? Did you learn these from your parents or was it predetermined by your genes? While it's clear that physical characteristics are hereditary, the genetic waters get a bit more murky when it comes to an individual's (Powell, K., 2006 March 15). The idea of nature is the hereditary traits and the genes of a person that what he or she inherits from his or her biological parents like for example the height, skin tone or to be more specific the physical features.
All people are subject to forces that are out of their control. These forces shape and influence their lives in ways that are big and ways that are subtle. These two forces are our nature, “The inborn, innate character of an organism,” (Rathus 56) and nurture, “The sum total of the environmental factors that affect an organism from conception onward,” (Rathus 56). In my own life, the forces of nature and nurture have both played a huge part, although nurture has played the bigger part.
Imagine what would happen if we lived in a world where water was kept 8 feet off the ground and there was absolutely no way you could get it if you weren’t tall enough. Most likely, the short people would die off. The taller ones would multiply, and before long, instead of a population of people of all sizes, you would have a population of only tall people. Living things that are best suited, or adapted, to their environment survive and multiply. Those that are not, are unable to survive.
1The popular opinion leads to think that science and religion are incompatible. It is commonly believed that they are opposites, one cannot live with the other. But in fact, science and religion are perfectly compatible. Before the 17th century, most scientists were Christians who wanted to study God’s creation and understand Him better. Where does this conflict come from, then?
Since Charles Darwin first announced his ideas about biological evolution and natural selection, different lines of research from many different branches of science have formed evidence supporting his belief that biological evolution occurs because of natural selection. There are many types of evidence to support the theory of natural selection. Some of the scientific studies include: Biochemistry is the study of basic chemistry and the processes that happen in cells. The biochemistry of all living things on Earth is very alike, showing that all of Earth’s organisms share a common ancestry. Comparative Anatomy is the comparison of the structures of different living things.
Natural Selection is the long gradual process in which Biological traits either become more or less common in a population as a function of the effect of inherited traits on the differential reproductive success of organisms interacting with their environment. In Darwin’s work The Origin of Species he also mentioned evidence for the Theory of Evolution from his voyage around the world on The H.M.S. Beagle. The Origin of Species is probably the most influential work on evolutionary biology. The Origin of Species will help prove my thesis because it introduces the ideas that we base on evolutionary biology today.
Charles Darwin should not receive the award for his work on natural selection. His crazy theories should not be excepted by the Royal Society because they go against religion and will make our high class society a laughing stock. Darwin's Definition of natural selection is "any characteristic of an individual that allows it to survive to produce more offspring will eventually appear in every individual of the species, simply because those members will have more offspring. " Natural selection can never extend outside of the DNA limit. DNA cannot be changed into a new species by natural selection.

A physician group can be presented as a threat to health plans, as it does business by obtaining an insurance license. This is because the subcontractor is a competitor. Providers must become active managed care partners with employers, instead of being reactive adversaries of managed care organizations on a contractual basis.
Although the theory of evolution caused a stir on its own, what was most important to the Nature versus Nurture debate was the idea of our species changing over time. The idea of Natural Selection also contributed tot he debate. The phrase ‘Nature versus Nurture’ was coined by English Polymath, Francis Galton in his 1874 publication of English Men in Science: Their Nature and Nurture. Galton was Darwin’s cousin and he said in his biography that ‘The publication in 1859 of the Origin of Species by Charles Darwin made a marked epoch in my own mental development, as it did in that of human thought generally.’
Three different sides will be discussed in this paper. First is the theory of natural selection, often called the survival of the fittest. Natural selection as quoted by the Merrium Webster Dictionary is, “a natural process that results in the survival and reproductive success of individuals or groups best adjusted to their environment and that leads to the perpetuation of genetic qualities best suited to that particular environment.” For example there is a litter of cats. One of these cats is a lot faster than the other cats and is therefore able to get food easier.
