In his essay, “Should Everybody Write?”, Dennis Baron focuses on the expansion of information due to the advancement of technology and the vast amount of unchecked writing available on the internet. Baron also goes into depth about the origins of writing and the impact it has had on readers, authors, and researchers. After he presents the origins and progression of writing, Baron answers the question of, should everybody write? In early era’s, according to Baron, “… in the 17th century England, a period known for the flowering of English letters, where even kings and queens composed poetry and the brand-new Royal Society promoted science writing, literacy in London remained a mere 10% for men, a shocking 1% for women” (845).
The book, True Notebooks, by Mark Salzman, is about the author volunteering at L.A.’s juvenile hall to teach young offenders how to write. The teenage boys in his class are high-risk offenders, they are in custody for murder or other serious crimes. This book is a great read for anyone, especially writing students, who can gain inspiration from these troubled kids who express themselves through their writing. This book should be required reading in Professor Marquez’ English B50 class because it is captivating, moving, and it can motivate a struggling writing student.

One of the primary reasons to join a Spanish honor society is to immerse oneself in the language and culture.
In this category I chose two specific questions to address. The first is, what can we do as teachers to foster supportive/safe writing environments? This is a great question, and probably the most important aspect when it comes to a student’s success and confidence. As a teacher it’s very important to have a safe and inviting classroom atmosphere that allows them to feel comfortable, welcome and that fosters the student’s creativity. If a student does not feel comfortable with classroom, for whatever reason or if they feel intimidated or threatened by a peer or teacher in that environment, the environment is harmful to their success, learning and the student will likely close off and have anxiety.

Western Washington has a diverse and well trained group of writing centers. I was fortunate enough to be able to visit Central Washington University, Highline Community College, Shoreline Community College, Tacoma Community College and University of Washington Bothell . The goal was to find out what the writing centers are using for training, and how the centers operated. The four centers I visited, and the one center I interviewed, were extremely welcoming and have a diverse variety of extensive training programs. Observations of these writing centers enlightened me with an overwhelming amount of information.

From this memoir, I was able to pick out bad writing habits I have, but I also noticed little things I do that can be stressed more to upgrade my work. With rules from symbolism to adverbs, this book could teach students the best techniques. To best explain King's writing suggestions, he included personal stories and humor to keep readers engaged and interested. The many tips I learned will continue to aid throughout my year as an AP Language and Composition
Another day was so much like the one before, and the many before that. He walked the house and grounds, slowly, letting time pass as it must. Alone, present but not present, for can one truly be there if no one knows of it? Like the saying he’d heard more than once over the unmeasured time of his existence: If a tree falls in the forest but no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound? He ambled through the back yard, pausing under the tree from which he’d been hanged, cursing his tormentors, vowing to haunt them for all time.
This chapter can help young writers in English class with their papers in many different ways. For instance, Trimble gives examples on what a veteran writer does in order to make their writing interesting. He also gives out techniques on how you can get a reader’s attention or how you can fix your writing to make it readable instead of having nonsense. What makes this difficult for me as a writer is that I write what ever comes to my mind and it will not make sense. Another thing that makes it difficult for me as a writer is that I am not good at getting the readers attention and having him hooked on to my work.
Writing is an essential part of an individual’s success. Writing comes in many forms, and it is not only used in an English course. It can be an email to a college professor, a resume, a lab report, a hotel review, etc. There are countless forms are writing, and it is important to understand how to approach each piece of writing. Writing is part of an individual’s daily life, and understanding the importance of rhetorical knowledge, genre knowledge, and audience awareness with make it easier to approach different types of writing, and ultimately improve one’s writing skills.
In this practicum I will narrate an interview that was done with a Hispanic parent. I will describe her and her family structure. I will also elaborate on her involvements in her children academics, and teacher parent relationship. Also better ways to encourage parents to get involved in their children education will be added, and how teachers can assist with making the parents feel welcomed inside of the classroom.

As I was reading Melissa Duffy’s “Inspiration, and Craig Vetter’s “Bonehead Writing,” I found myself connecting with Vetter’s paper more than Duffy’s. I found that the presentation in “Bonehead Writing” to capture my attention, and that Vetter’s feelings about writing was similar to my opinion on writing. Through his wording and humor, I think Craig Vetter wrote the best essay. I find that the wording and presentation of an article or essay influences my opinion of the writer, and it affects how I receive the idea they are trying to present to me. Craig Vetter uses a blunt approach to convey his idea that writing is nearly impossible to teach, and describes writing as “A blood sport, a walk in the garden of agony every time out.”
I am now able to see the areas in which I lack in but I also recognize my strengths as well. To become a precise writer, you have to take the initiatives that will help you do so. These initiatives consist of working on different academic genres, planning and organizing material, identifying purpose and audience and for revising intentionally. It is also includes reading different types of texts and learning how to understand a writer’s argument and respond to the ideas of others.
