After the siege of Charleston, Sir Henry Clinton traveled back to New York leaving Cornwallis in command of the British campaign in North and South Carolina. On the morning of August 16, 1780, General Horatio Gates chose to fight Cornwallis’ force even though just the previous night his men suffered the terribly infectious illness of dysentery. Gates was confident in his American army of around 3,700 soldiers because they outnumbered the British army of around 2,100 troops. The American advantage ended quickly as one thousand American troops were unable to fight due to the illness they suffered the night before.
The day of the battle took place in the fall of 1861 in Eastern Theater territory. The men were outfitted in era appropriate uniforms and congregated along the banks of the Potomac waiting for further orders. Confusion permeated amongst the troops, as there was rumor as to the exact location and movement of Confederate troops. Both Nell Irvin Painter and Kristin L. Hoganson have two different prospective on the annexation of the Philippines. Painter’s approach of explaining the annexation was more of an economic view rather then Hoganson’s, which was a more sexiest view. An example of Painter’s view is when he said,” the culprit, it seemed, was agricultural and industrial overproduction” (Painter). He is saying the America simply produced too much, and they did not care. Business thought taking over The Philippines would help American gain access to trading with China.
The French and Indian War was about expansion and spilled over to North America from the conflict between the French and British in Europe. The war had many battles throughout North America, but no other battle was as time consuming or difficult as the Battle of Fort Duquense. The Battle of Fort Duquense was based off of strategic placement between the French and British within the Ohio Valley that took part over multiple attempts by the British to retake Fort Duquense. The many battles for Fort Duquense introduced George Washington’s military leadership, who participated in every conflict between the French and British for the fort. The Battles for Fort Duquense would prove to be instrumental in the victory for the British and future expansion west of the colonies.
Gillmore ordered the initial assault on Fort Wagner on 11 July 1863, which was successfully repelled by the Confederacy. The Federals unleashed a heavy artillery barrage on Fort Wagner one week after the first assault. The barrage did not destroy the fort, neither did it demoralize the occupants of the fort. Gillmore decided to use a siege operation after two assaults on Fort Wagner had failed. The siege began at Fort Sumter which was heavily attacked from a range using heavy guns.

The battle of Wanat was a major battle during Operation Enduring Freedom. It took place early in the morning of July 13, 2008. Combat Outpost Kayler is the small outpost that was over run at Wanat, in the Waygal district of Afghanistan. The Soldiers of second platoon, Chosen Company, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Combat Team, were the primary forces under attack along with some coalition forces. The conflict originated a few weeks before the battle, when attack helicopters engaged a convoy of Taliban.
