Therefore as you can see Miller-Meeks is no stranger to her opponent and she clearly demonstrates that she is a fighter, who is not willing to go down so easily, even after facing off three times and having lost the previous races, Miller-Meeks has once again chosen to compete in the race for U.S. House Representative.
Reading may seem like an run of the mill thing where you laugh at the funny jokes, glare into the abyss when the text possess a provocative quote. To Mike Bunn the author of “How to Read Like A Writer,” has a different interpretation of what reading should be. Mike Bunn emphasizes that reading should be more than just context, he argues that you need to question the authors’ choice of words, literary devices, sentence placement, in order to be able to become better readers and writers ourselfs. He presents it to the audience in a manner that is very interactive. He begins by explaining what he means to “Read Like a Writer”(Bunn, How to Read Like A Writer), followed by questions that should be asked about the text and writing style, and techniques that should be done to become a more proficient writer.
What can reading do? Can it stop the use of drugs. Can it stop alcoholism; can it stop a murder; can it stop people wandering around on the streets at night? Reading is not an option in the narrator’s mind at first. He rarely go to school, spends most of his early life on drug deal, alcohol and serves in prison.
The reading strategies we discussed in class and in the courses content made me a better reader by showing me many different ways to read and write and understand it very well. It uses all these methods such as the KWL charts, writing a memo and reading the novel I selected helping me improve my skills greatly to become a better reader. Putting together the reading, writing oral communication and examining media all connected in helping me become a good reader and helped me to comprehend the understanding of making a personal connection to the world around you. That 's what help 's you in the future to make the the best choices possible so that later on when you make a mistake in reading you can look at the experience you had and learn how to properly correct yourself because at the end of the day they all deal with different skill set 's but all help you to become better in everything you
As a reader one has to know what to look for and identify the main idea and understand what the author is trying to argue. Before taking Writing 10 I felt I was a good reader and able to identify the main idea in a prompt, but little did I really know. After going through the research process and trying to identify reliable sources I have essentially cut out the unnecessary information and I go straight to the idea or argument being made by the author. As of before, I would focus on every detail of the writing. Having been assigned readings and having discussions about the readings during class, I soon realized that writing is about an argument being made with supporting evidence.
Even though I still struggle with a reading, I become better than before. I have more confidence to ask when I need or want to know the words. Reading give straight and opens the mind. I expect to be a better reader and writer. Reading is the key to filling and empty
