1.1 Two key responsibilities of anthropologists are Ethical considerations, they must follow ethical guidelines to ensure that their research doesn’t harm the people they study in any way and they must respect their cultural values and protect their privacy, and Cultural relativism, they have to try and understand peoples’ beliefs, values and practises within their cultural contexts.

1.2 Some of the reasons why fieldwork is beneficial are in depth understanding, contextualisation, identification of new research questions, reflexivity and collaboration. Fieldwork is beneficial because it produces knowledge and enhances existing knowledge for anthropologists, it gives them an in-depth understanding of the social, cultural, and economic systems of the society they are studying because they witness and participate in the daily activities of said society. Fieldwork provides context in data collection as anthropologists see how people interact with each other and their environment. Fieldwork also assists in the creation of new research questions and new hypothesis. Fieldwork helps anthropologists to reflect on their own cultural assumptions and biases to ensure that it doesn’t influence the research. Cultural relativism identifies that each culture has their own distinct beliefs, values and practices. Anthropologists try to not inforce their own cultural biases or assumptions into the cultures and societies they study and rather try to put themselves in the shoes of the people being studied. Holism is the principle that includes the examination of all characteristics of a culture including its history, social organisation, language, economy, religion and art.
