1. In establishing a constructive climate for his or her class, what kind of structure has each professor put in place?
Professor Gardner has given each student a set of guidelines and rules he expects in his classroom. He does not permit the use of cell phones or laptops and expects his students to be on time. Mr. Gardner encourages students to interact with him and each other. He has learned each student’s name which makes the student feel important. Professor Gardner set norms for his class and students know exactly what is to be done.
Professor Morgan has no rules or set norms. She allows her students to use cell phones, laptops, talk freely, and come and go as they please. Mrs. Morgan feels the students are free to learn however they see fit. Students are unsure of the

What actions has each professor taken to establish cohesiveness in his or her class?
Professor Gardner has encouraged students to engage with him and each other and listen to all active discussions. He uses each student’s name and allows each student to use his first name or title. There is a feeling of a group and many students interact with each other outside of the classroom. Professor Morgan allows students to talk about whatever they want even if it does not pertain to current studies. She does not know the students names and the students do not know each other’s names.
4. What standards of excellence has each professor established for his or her course?
Professor Gardner has articulated clear expectations and he provides constructive feedback. I feel Professor Morgan has not established any standards of excellence. Her class has no clear expectations and homework and papers are graded on a participation grade.
5. Which class atmosphere would you do best in? Why?
I feel I would do best in Professor Gardner’s atmosphere. I prefer structure. I feel I do my best when I know what is expected of me. I also enjoy interacting with both the professor and other
