During the 18th century, many events shaped the historical context of France. They mainly were: the economic struggles, the frictions between social classes and the new ideas of philosophers. France fought in many wars during the 18thCentury; most notably the Seven Years War (1756-1763). The latter resulted in the French losing all North American territories and losing trading networks in the Caribbean.
