“Banning books gives us silence when we need speech. It closes our ears when we need to listen. It makes us blind when we need sight.” - Stephen Chboksy. Books are one of the most benefitting resources that we can use to teach today’s youth.
The first leadership role I would like to mention is my role as an assistant teacher/helper during the summer at our local Boys and Girls Club. The next leadership role I would like to mention is my role as a VBS teacher at my church in Starkville, Ms. I would like to be able to acquire more leadership roles and such in the future to further my leadership horizon. ~What Being a Leader Means to Me~ There are some key things that make a leader a leader to me. The first one is not panicking in the presence of mistake or failure. The second thing is a strong sense of courage and willingness to lead with pride.
Books are a real significant part of our lives and are involved at every step in our lifetime. Books are expensive and the knowledge in the book is always hard to get and is scarce. Schools will at times ban certain books due to age restrictions, or will if it doesn't go with the school's intentions. So why not let them better prepare themselves by reading a more challenging and mature book. Therefore, I believe that school board members should not ban books from the school library because, students can get more of a challenge from certain books, you also can get many life lessons from a more mature book, and students also get more of a choice which means more books to read. So I think it is completely wrong to ban books from the school
Lisa Cash Hanson said, "Leadership is the ability to guide others without force into a direction or decision that leaves them still feeling empowered and accomplished. " Hanson continues to remind me of the selfless nature that great leaders continue to practice. To me, leadership is not a title or destination. Leadership isn't about remembrance or fame, it's about the impact, inspiration, and the influence you have on others.
Banning books will take away free information people can receive from that specific book. Google scholars made a good point, “However, children’s book covers or endpapers may contain information about the age level of the intended reader and a synopsis of the content. Board books, picture books, nonfiction, and young adult literature are frequently housed in different sections of a library to encourage age-appropriate corralling,” (Schneider, 25).For example, books come with an age group, education level, summary, and much more. The book itself is telling you all the information you need to know beforehand. At a library or in a classroom do not give a 8 year old a high school book.
The 44th President, Barack Obama in his Inauguration Speech he talked about the changes that were going to be made in the United States and the current events that are going on. He explained the thing he is going to do to fix it. Obama’s purpose of this speech was to talk about how we as a country are in trouble. America as a whole is going downhill and it needs to be changed around. The audience that he is giving this speech to is the previous Presidents of the United States, the other people he is addressing this to are the people of the United States.
In most schools, when it comes to teaching books, it’s a battle between the parents and the teachers. Most teachers are good about substituting a different book in if the student or parent has an issue with the book they're reading in
When given the option to pick between letting the teacher choose the year’s reading, or letting the students, I chose to let the students select the reading for the next year. First, it can teach us to work together and improve our arguing skills. We could also read a book we are interested in, something everyone prefers to do. Finally, the book might be one that we are familiar with and understand. These reasons are extremely helpful for several reasons.
Books help us grow and learn and should be available to everyone. Without books we wouldn’t be able to learn some of the valuable lessons that we have learned. Always remember to give every book a fair chance, because you never know if that book will have an important lesson that will help you in
There are many different views and perceptions on leadership and what it exactly means. This is because there are many different types of leaders and many different views on them. But the basic meaning of leadership is an individual who can select the right group of followers and influence them through their distinct gifts, abilities, skills and knowledge. A leader focuses on the follower and puts out a roadmap to the overall mission and vision; hereby the follower is influenced to willingly and enthusiastically in achieving the mission and vision. The leader achieves this influence by humbly delivering a visionary perception of the future in clear terms that resonates with the follower in terms of their believes and values.
Leadership is can mean different things to different people. To me, leadership is more than having a title and subordinates. Leadership is having the courage to make the right choices, engage others in a vision, and empower your subordinates with a shared purpose and to achieve positive impacts. Leadership can also be relational which means it takes teamwork, requires you to be able to work with others in various backgrounds and that may have difference perspectives. Leadership also requires continuous learning, discerned decision making, and savvy communication skills.
Introduction Leadership is the art of empowering people around you to achieve a goal. As a leader I want to help others become leaders themselves. I firmly believe that by leading based on my values this will be accomplished. I have had many leadership influences throughout my career. Some of them showed me the way I wanted to someday lead and others showed me exactly how not to.
