Explain Why Canada Should Not Have A Mixed Economic System

Canada should not have the same economic system as the USA. Canada along with many highly successful countries share the same idea of a mixed economy. A mixed economy allows for the same drive of a market economy while still having the support for citizens like social security and free healthcare. A market economy makes a bigger gap between classes. A mixed economy includes multiple economic views into one ideal system. A market economy does provide a stronger drive for success. However as of now Canada would benefit more by staying a mixed economy.

The USA to this day has a market economy. This is a economic system in which economic decisions and prices of goods and services are guided by country’s consumer population being little government or central planning and interference. In this system it is believed that the market will steady itself out with little to no intervention from the country’s leaders. This can be known as a dog-eat-dog system because citizens will have to fend for themselves in the market leaving room for more lower class citizens than in a mixed or command economy. However this economic viewpoint can be positive as it gives consumers more drive to do well and achieve more as they will have to make it happen for themselves and their efforts will not be put towards other citizens through government intervention giving the …show more content…

A mixed economy is a economic system that combines the viewpoints and ideas of a market economy and a command economy. In this system there is still little government intervention however in certain aspects of the system there is much more intervention than in a market economy. In a mixed economy citizens are often provided with services like healthcare and social security through community funded systems put in place through government intervention. However in a mixed economy there are higher taxes for its citizens to pay for the programs put in place through government
