Why did Japan and United States go to War? Japan and the United States went to war with each other for reasons like Pearl Harbor and tension between Germany and the middle east. Before Pearl Harbor, Japan wanted to show East Asia that they are strong, because Japan wanted to conquer Asia. Japan was also mad because The United States stopped giving them oil. These reasons eventually led to the United States getting involved, and trying to make World War 2 slowly come to an end. Before all of the commotion, Japan and the United States didn’t have a bond between their governments. During World War 2, Germany was conquering most Europe and destroying the Jewish cities. The attack was on a sunday, which was when the ships on the United States side would be docked. Japan had dozens of airplanes that attacked by surprise. Once President Roosevelt heard about what happened, he wrote a speech. Then he send it to Congress, and that’s when we declared war to Japan. Because of Japan’s attack, the United States had to get involved with the war and defend themselves. They made all generations of Japanese people go into internment camps, but these camps were different from concentration camps. Although they were in camps, the japanese weren’t treated as bad as the Jewish people in concentration camps during the Holocaust.
