I've been in band since middle school, that makes my involvement in band to be 5 years long. Along the way I've learned from directors, upperclassmen, and instructors what it takes to become a better musician or marcher. With several years of band under my belt it makes me qualified to assist with helping other members.
I've been involved in programs like RGV LEAD Ambassador and National Honor Society that strengthen my leadership and communication skills, which are key skills needed for being drum major.
I am prepared for the responsibilities that come with being a drum major. Whenever I'm involved in something that I have great interest in I put in all my effort. Even if I don’t acquire a position, I'll dedicate time to help other members. If I see someone struggling with music or marching I'll approach them and give them advice how they can use to improve.
I'm a very unproblematic person and don't get into conflicts with other members of the band. I avoid conflicts by respecting the other members and not getting involved in situations I shouldn’t be in. If a problem would arise, I would have a talk with the person and see where the problem is and how to fix it. A technique I would apply is keep a respectable distance from the person of conflict. The conflict should be easily resolved between both people
